From iconic match-winning moments to culturally defining sporting milestones, archive footage is more than just content — it is history. But as formats degrade, storage systems age, and rights become increasingly complex, protecting historical sports archives has never been more urgent.

As the demand for long form premium documentary clips and content has grown in the last few years, so has the need for fast access and properly catalogued archive material.

For the modern documentary maker, finding the right footage in vast and randomly compiled archives can be expensive, time consuming and unproductive . We talk to Steve Rider one of the founders of  ‘Racing Past Media’ as they have all experienced this frustration.

The main project for RPM is now to compile the best possible collection of broadcast and film content reflecting the first thirty years of the Formula One World Championship.

We are here to delve into to how they are doing that!
