As you look around MPTS, you will notice many composite offering software-based and cloud-based solutions for your future production needs! But you may also wonder how the different offerings compare and if you buy into one, will you be "locked in” to a proprietary platform. This has been a major concern within the EBU's (European Broadcasting Union) membership, and broadcasters have come together in the Dynamic Media Facility project to outline what they need from the industry. Recently this led to creation of the MXL (Media eXchange Layer) project to provide an open way to allow software applications from different companies to share live media content efficiently and in a future-proof way that can be used both in a broadcast facility or in the cloud. At this panel you will hear from users about why this “second wave” is important to their future, and from vendors about how they are helping make it happen in the right way.
