Designing a Storybook World: The Look of 'The Magic Faraway Tree'

13 May 2026
Post Production

In this session, Director of Photography Zac Nicholson and Colourist Carl Thompson explore the collaboration behind the film’s warm, sun-drenched and quietly magical look.

Blending soft natural light, rich texture and a subtle sense of the fantastical, the film reimagines a nostalgic world through a modern cinematic lens. The panel will discuss how they balanced naturalism with heightened tone, using colour and light to shape character, environment and emotion.

From camera to final grade, this session offers insight into how cinematography and colour come together to create a cohesive, immersive visual experience.
